Kelley christ - st giles cripplegate anglican church
"The vision was to improve the appearance of the internal render at St Giles’ Cripplegate, bringing it closer to its condition following the post-war restoration to the designs of Sir Godfrey Allen, removing the significant water stains, grime, products of combustion from candles, fixing holes, rawl plugs and other detritus which had accumulated over the decades.
Jason and the team at Faux Creation carried out trials to ensure a perfect match with the original render texture and colour. This required careful judgement so the wall surfaces did not appear ‘over-cleaned’ and the patina of age gave character to the interior. Judicious handling of the artistic techniques to seamlessly remove detrimental traces of age, whilst preserving a general character of ‘aging well’, through curation of the surface finishes.
It was brilliant, and akin to working with the specialist craftspeople and conservators we regularly encounter working in the heritage sector. Jason and his team listened to our brief and carefully explained the techniques which would help achieve the effects required, before demonstrating these with sample work for approval.
Many members of the congregation have commented on the success of the work as it has subtly yet significantly visually lifted the appearance of the interior, so it’s character is enhanced - just as a well loved, but cared for interior of a busy Grade 1 listed church should be.
I would definitely recommend Faux Creations to others for their keenness to listen, to understand the project requirements, to offer creative solutions to the technical challenges presented by each project, and to deliver exactly what was needed to ensure a great project outcome. Communication at every step of the process was exemplary and very much appreciated.”
