The plaster we were tasked with using was new on to the market, so required rigorous testing in our Studio. As the plaster began to shrink, the surface tension created in order to achieve the finish, meant that, unless the substrate was right it could conceivably fall off the wall. The substrate had to be tested to ensure the bonding was perfect when the finish was applied. The thicknesses of the final plaster needed to be experimented with to determine exactly how to achieve the cracked surface look that the client was looking for.
